Oklahoma has done a lot of things differently with the 2017 class and that includes the number of mid-year enrollees.
SoonerSquad17 is in Norman, well, a lot of them are. OU has 11 mid-year enrollees for the class so for those who need a refresher or an introduction, time to know the next batch of names.

Hayward (Calif.) Stellar Prep OLB Addison Gumbs
The story: It was a huge shock to see Gumbs commit to OU when it appeared like he was destined to College Station and Texas A&M. And it was a huge fight for the Sooners to keep Gumbs once he was committed to the Sooners because of the Aggies and UCLA. Another example of OU being able to stand its ground when it would have felt like in years prior that OU would have suffered a setback. Gumbs, through it all, stayed true to his word and is rolling with SoonerSquad17.
2017 impact: Could be a big one, could be nothing. Hard to tell. He fared well in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but OU has so many quality outside linebackers that you just don’t know. Mark Jackson is on the rise. Caleb Kelly is about to break out. Kenneth Murray is joining Gumbs in being at OU early. Gumbs has the talent to stand out, but will it happen just yet is a legit question.
Scout says: Gumbs had 23 sacks last season so it's pretty obvious what he does best. He's one of the elite pass rushers out West and can really fly off the edge. He's very athletic, can change direction and explodes up the field. He plays as a standup outside linebacker but we think he has the frame to grow in to a defensive end in college. He uses his hands well to get off blocks, is relentless in pursuit and does a nice job pursuing and running down plays from behind. This is a high upside kid with a ton of natural ability and the talent to play for any school in the country. – Greg Biggins
