The story: Again, this one felt like out of left field. Broiles never seemed like a huge OU fan. But once the offer and commitment happened, whew, you couldn’t stop Broiles from talking about the Sooners and recruiting for OU’s class. Broiles had a tremendous senior season on both sides of the ball and his physicality really showed at the Under Armour All-America Game. A vocal leader on social media for SoonerSquad17, he shouldn’t slow down now that he’s in Norman.

2017 impact: Defensive back is up for grabs. Jordan Thomas has one cornerback spot locked, but the other one is a free-for-all for anybody who wants to seize it. Jordan Parker played well down the stretch so he’s the clear favorite. Even so, Broiles is talented enough to see the field even if it’s just on special teams to start in 2017.

Scout says: Broiles has great size for the cornerback position and has tremendous footwork. What is scary about his upside is that he has made tremendous strides on his technique from the time his junior season ended and his senior season will begin. He has the size to take on and cover the biggest and strongest outside receivers. He also has some versatility about his game and could play pretty much anywhere in the defensive backfield, he is not just limited to one set position. Because of his plus size, he should be a consistent and reliable tackler.
