Oklahoma defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks knew heading into January he wanted one more quality member in the secondary.
Already with three ranked in the Scout 300, Cooks was looking for that final piece and found it in Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside defensive back Tre Norwood.
Norwood, a three-star prospect, announced his commitment to the Sooners on Monday night via Twitter.
Originally committed to Louisville, Norwood decommitted earlier this month as a slew of offers came his way. Included among them was OU, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Notre Dame. Norwood visited the Irish over the weekend, but there was a feeling that OU was the school to beat.
Norwood joins Scout 300 prospects Robert Barnes and Tre Brown for OU’s SoonerSquad17 to go along with Scout 300 member Justin Broiles, who has already enrolled in Norman.
Norwood is the 25th member of OU’s class, currently ranked No. 5 by Scout. The Sooners are looking for a strong close, and Norwood is hopefully the start of a nice week coming up in Norman and heading into national signing day in nine days.
