RECRUITING: Chaney high on OU, but still wide open

Tulsa wide receiver Quentin Chaney talks about his high school season and his interest in Oklahoma.

JH: "Are you ready for your opening game?

QC: "We had a scrimmage game and then the All-City preview to get ready for the season. We scrimmaged against Jenks and did real well. I felt like we won the scrimmage. Our first defense did not get scored on. We had more drives against their first unit, so I felt we had a better scrimmage. I played well on both sides of the ball. I don't know my stats, but felt I played well. I thought I played a lot better in the preview. I had a touchdown catch in the preview."

JH: Who do you play this weekend?

QC: "We open our season against TSST Saturday morning. They used to be Tulsa McLain. This should be a game we can win, but we can't take any team for granted. We have to go out and establish ourselves early in the game and then take it to them as fast as we can. We need to get this game under control early."

JH: "How optimistic are you about the season?

QC: "I think we are going to be very good again. I really believe that we can get back to state this year."

JH: "What coaches have you heard from since they could start calling you again?

QC: "I know I have heard from Missouri, Colorado, Tulsa, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, OU and OSU. I also heard from Tennessee. All of those schools have offered except for Tennessee."

JH: "How is recruiting shaping up with you?

QC: "Right now I am just taking it all in. I am not trying to make any additions or deletions at this time. I probably won't be taking any visits until the beginning or the end of December."

JH: Do you have a leader at this time?

QC: "No, not at all."

JH: What are you thoughts on Oklahoma?

QC: "I still like Oklahoma a lot. I would say that Oklahoma is one of my top schools that I am considering. I wasn't able to watch their game the other night, but I just know that OU is a great program and a great school. I just like how they do things at OU, but right now I am very open with my decision and I want to keep it that way for a while."
