Oklahoma is keeping it in the family, the Tulsa Union family that is as the Sooners land their second prospect from the school for the 2018 class.
Tulsa Union defensive lineman Jordan Kelley announced his commitment to OU following the Under Armour camp Sunday afternoon in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Kelley joins his best friend, defensive back Patrick Fields, as the two Redskins pledged to the Sooners so far for #SavageTeam2K18.
It has been said a great day at a camp can earn you an offer, but now Kelley is a sign that a bad at a camp can’t keep you down forever.
Kelley, who picked OU over finalists Oklahoma State and TCU, had an off evening when he was at OU’s elite camp last summer. It felt like defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux was going to have to move on and find other targets.
But Kelley’s junior film was too good to pass up, and Kelley was offered in person by Thibodeaux at last month’s junior day.
Kelley performed well earlier this month at The Opening regional in Frisco, Texas, and held his own from sources Sunday at the Under Armour camp as well.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Kelley seems primed to be a defensive tackle at the next level and gives Thibodeaux his first tackle for this cycle.
Kelley is showing one day of camp can’t end your recruitment, and Thibodeaux is showing what year No. 2 in recruiting can do for you. Comfortable with his position and his prospects, Thibodeaux is starting to stockpile prospects.
It begins with Kelley, but Thibodeaux should have plenty of other names from within the Midlands region to choose from in the upcoming months.
The commitment of Kelley would usually be good enough for OU fans, but the Sooners are already riding high this weekend following Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back T.J. Pledger doing the same thing Saturday afternoon.
Not as fast a start as #SoonerSquad17, but #ST2K18 is now up to six members and coming along just fine in Norman.
