Former Kentucky wide receiver Jeff Badet commits to OU

OU gets one more for March with graduate transfer Jeff Badet.

Oklahoma is not done yet in March picking up major additions to the program. This time around? It’s a graduate transfer.

Former Kentucky wide receiver Jeff Badet announced on Twitter and Sooners Illustrated confirmed via multiple sources that Badet will indeed be a Sooner for the 2017 season, immediately eligible to play.

Badet visited OU earlier this month, and he said he was impressed by the plan that OU coaches had laid out for him and why the Sooners should be the choice.

Badet started all 13 games last season for Kentucky and had 31 catches for 670 yards and four touchdowns.

He’s the latest in what has been a successful option for the Sooners in the graduate transfer department. First, it was Justin Brown, and then OU struck gold again last year with former Penn State receiver Geno Lewis.

With the departure of Dede Westbrook, there’s no clear option for the No. 1 receiver for the Sooners. A lot of quality guys, but Badet will have a chance to show immediately what he can do.

Badet was expected to visit Virginia Tech and Oregon in April, but obviously the visit to Norman earlier this month was enough for OU for Badet to know that’s where he wants to go.
