Oklahoma basketball coach Lon Kruger has found the first piece to his 2018 puzzle, and it comes from a familiar area.
Katy (Texas) Tompkins shooting guard Jamal Bieniemy announced Sunday morning via Twitter he has become the Sooners initial commitment for the 2018 class.
Bieniemy, who is 6-foot-5 and 175 pounds, visited OU this weekend on an unofficial visit and decided he had seen everything he needed to see.
He also had offers from LSU, Oklahoma State and Houston, among others, but the Sooners were able to land another top prospect from the Houston area.
With guys like Kameron McGusty and Christian James and assistant coach Carlin Hartman’s ties to the Houston area, it has quickly become a big spot for the Sooners to hit on the recruiting trail.
Bieniemy told Scout last week the OU visit was the only one he had planned for the near future, but it didn’t feel like the good news would come for OU this weekend.
