Things are starting to work themselves out on the recruiting trail. It’s time to start looking more intently on Oklahoma’s “wish list” for the Class of 2018, #SavageTeam2K18.
Here is an idea of where OU stands heading into July. The number in parentheses indicates the number of recruits OU is looking to sign at the position for the Class of 2018. The names do not necessarily reflect OU’s official board but are the best guesstimate of who OU is targeting.
Running back (1-2)
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s T.J. Pledger. The borderline five-star prospect has been committed to OU since late-March, but the Sooners are having to survive a huge push by Nebraska that included a Pledger trip to Lincoln last weekend. The initial feeling is OU has done just that with Pledger appearing to be back 100 percent with OU. Getting him to the #ChampUBBQ next month will be pivotal and could lock things up once and for all.
Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar’s Tavion Thomas. You might question OU wanting a second running back with all the talent already there. But OU went as all-in as you can with somebody like Thomas in the last few months to really set the stage here. A much different, bigger back than Pledger is one reason why OU fans believe they can co-exist. After initially setting a July 7 commitment date, Thomas committed to the Sooners last week without having seen campus yet.
None. Even though questions will most likely persist about Pledger in the near future, it still doesn’t seem like it would factor into OU recruiting another running back.
