RECRUITING: Test score holding Florida LB back

The latest on the recruitment of North Lauderdale, Fla. linebacker Vernon Smith.

JH: Is your season still going well?

VS: "Right now we are the number one defense in the state. We are 2-2 on the year, but we have been playing some really good defense. All the games have been pretty low scoring."

JH: How are you playing individually?

VS: "I have been playing pretty good so far. Every game I get six to seven solo tackles and then I assist on several others. We don't really keep exact stats, but those numbers are pretty close. I don't have a sack yet and I have to get busy to get me some of those."

JH: You couldn't visit OU a couple of weeks ago because you were waiting on your test score. Is that score back at this time?

VS: "No, I still don't have that score back."

JH: Will you take unofficial visits or official visits once you get your score back?

VS: "I will start to make my official visits once I get that score back."

JH: Have you set any visits yet?

VS: "No, I haven't set any visits at this time, but I am talking to several schools. Oklahoma will be the first school I set a visit with, then I will talk to Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Kansas State and Miami. Those are my top five schools at this point."

JH: What are your reasons why you continue to be high on Oklahoma?

VS: "They have a good team and a great linebacker corp. They have a great winning tradition and they are well-coached. I would say that Oklahoma is still my favorite at this time, but I am looking forward to taking my visits to make that final decision."
