RECRUITING: Doucet felt at home in Norman

America's top-ranked high school receiver prospect Early Doucet talks about his visit to Norman.

EARLY DOUCET, WR, 6-1, 205, 4.4 SAINT MARTINVILLE, LOUISIANA:

JH: How did you like your visit to OU?

ED: "I had a real good time. The coaches were nice, the players were nice and they made me feel at home. Before I even got into the locker room some of the players knew who I was and that was incredible. It was obvious they were keeping up with recruiting and they knew who I was. That made me feel great, because those guys are great players. They have a tremendous atmosphere between players and coaches at OU and that is something that I am looking for."

JH: What did you think about the football program itself?

ED: "Everything was nice. The atmosphere, stadium, facilities and campus is exactly what I am looking for in a school. It was very nice."

JH: Did you watch the wide receivers on offense?

ED: "Yeah, I watched the wide receivers a good bit and the punt returner (Antonio) Perkins. I do that also in high school and I thought they played both those positions very well. I like the fact they throw to a bunch of different receivers and distribute the ball to a number of different guys. I was very impressed."

JH: Does the fact that OU has always been one of the best punt returning teams in the country impress you?

ED: "Yeah, that really peaks my interest a great bit. It is not just the guy returning it, you must have guys blocking it as well. The other guys are so important and at OU they have so many good athletes that they give the punt returner a chance to get a great return every time he touches the ball. You can tell as a unit OU wants to return a punt for a touchdown every time."

JH: Does your visit to OU chance your impression about OU or enhance their chance to sign you?

ED: "Yeah, it gives them a better chance because I didn't know what to expect going into my visits. Now that I have visited and now that I have had a chance to meet their players and coaches and see how well they get along, a chance to see there great program that they certainly have a shot. I am not saying I am trying to commit or anything, but they certainly have a shot."

JH: How does recruiting stack up with you at the moment?

ED: "Well, it is still early right now because I haven't taken all of my visits. I think it is a good thing, and I would recommend this to all recruits, and that is to limit your schools to ten schools so that you can concentrate on those schools. If you have more than that then you have too many schools that you have to study about. Most guys go into recruiting thinking it is going to be a piece of cake, but it is not that way. You can get bogged down with all the stuff and all the phone calls that come with recruiting. This is one of the most important decisions you are ever going to make and you need to make an intelligent one, and you can't if you are still considering 25 schools."

JH: What did you think of your visit to Florida State?

ED: "It was a good school and I had a good time. I enjoyed myself."

JH: Have you set your other visits yet?

ED: "November 29 I will visit Florida. December 12 I will visit Miami and after that I will visit LSU."
