RECRUITING: Baker talks about trip to Norman

Indianapolis DE/TE Ryan Baker says his visit to Oklahoma went great. So where do the Sooners stand?

JH: How many visits have you taken?

RB: "I have taken three thus far. I have been to Oklahoma, Michigan and Purdue. I will go to Boston College this weekend and I am not sure about my fifth visit."

JH: What did you think of your visit to OU?

RB: "It was great. The people there are really nice, and I am not just talking about the football program. The football program is nice, but the people were just great and they treated my father just great. The coaches were great and Coach (Bob) Stoops is a great man. What I was most impressed with was the Sooners' strength and conditioning program. Coach (Jerry) Schmidt is a great coach and is improving all the athletes at OU, dropping their forty time and making them much stronger. The players have really bought into their program and it is paying big dividends for the Sooners."

JH: What about your visit to Michigan?

RB: "I like how they have a great school and a great football program. They have a great combination of both and I liked Coach (Lloyd) Carr a lot. Michigan also has a great winning tradition."

JH: Do you have a favorite at this point?

RB: "I have no favorite right now, because I have picked up a lot of information over the last couple of weeks and I have to go through it all. I am just now figuring out what I want in a college and through recruiting as well. I am still gathering all the facts and it is going to take some time to gather them all."

JH: How is your season going?

RB: "We are 9-1 on the year and we started sectionals last weekend. Everybody is in our postseason tournament, no matter what their regular season record is. They could be 0-8 and still get a shot at the postseason. I like it personally, because everybody gets a shot. We have to win six games to win the state title and I think we have a pretty good shot to do that. I don't keep my stats during the regular season, but I think I am playing pretty well. I can play better though and I can still use lots of improvement."
