Recruiting: Lindale, Texas OLB grew up an OU fan

Super Texas OLB Michael Williams grew up a Sooner fan, but where does OU stand now?

Position: OLB
Height: 6'4
Weight: 225
Forty: 4.6

Michael is a tremendous athlete that has just recently emerged on the Texas prep scene as a big-time prep recruit. A four-year varsity member, Williams is a three-year starter as a wide receiver and defensive end, a rare combination, but only one that a great athlete could play.
Last season, Williams finished with over 400 yards receiving and seven TDs. On defense, he was totally dominant with over 100 tackles, 13 sacks and one interception.

Williams attended the Texas A&M camp this summer and worked with the WR's and felt he held his own. Williams also starts in hoops (10 ppg and 13 rpg). Williams can bench 295 pounds and squats close to 500 pounds.

"I like Texas, OU, Baylor, Minnesota and all four of those schools have offered me," said Williams. "Texas A&M has offered me as well, but I am not as interested in them as the rest at this particular time. Right now, it's a pretty close race between OU and Texas, and right now they are tied for my top team. Both are very similar. I like OU's style of play, especially on defense. Bob Stoops is a great coach to work for, as it doesn't matter what is happening in the game, he doesn't' get mad at his players. The same could be said of Texas, but I haven't been to their campuses yet so I am not really sure. I am going to wait until after my football season before I take any visits."
"I grew up an Oklahoma fan, despite the fact I have lived in Texas my whole life. I was born in California."

Williams has set one date and that is with UT (11-14). OU is working on setting a visit with him at this time.
