RECRUITING: Five-Star TE leaves Norman impressed

America's top-rated tight end — Phoenix, Ariz. prospect Zach Miller — talks about his trip to Norman and OU's chances to sign him.

ZACH MILLER, TE, 6-5, 240, 4.7, PHOENIX, ARIZONA (DESERT VISTA HS):

JH: I know you are getting ready for the Army All-Star game, right?

ZM: "I just got back from throwing the ball around. My quarterback and some of the receivers went out and we just went through some passing plays. We had some DBs there as well. That is how I am trying to get ready for the All-Star game. I am trying to stay in football shape and trying to not get to far out of shape. I am going to be there a whole week, or eight days, and we practice for about five of those days. You need to go in a little in shape to get done what you want to get done."

JH: What did you think of your visit to OU?

ZM: "It was good. All the facilities, dorms and the campus was really pretty, and how they have improved the stadium is really cool. They have a great program."

JH: What did you think of the football program itself?

ZM: "We went to two of their practices and they really get after it. They have a good time, but most of all they get it done. They practice hard and they looked like a national championship team. My host was Lance Donley and he was a great guy. We had a lot of fun. He has been there for four years and he knew a lot about the program. He shot everything straight about the program and he had nothing about good things to say about the program."

JH: What did you think about how OU uses the tight end?

ZM: "I feel like they use the tight end well. I talked to Coach (Chuck) Long and Coach (Kevin) Sumlin about how they use the tight ends in the offense. They both said that they have great schemes for the tight end and if they can get the right receiver at that position they will throw the ball to him a bunch. We watched some film on Trent Smith and they told me they would use me in the same fashion."

JH: Now that you have visited OU, what do you think of their program?

ZM: "OU has great coaches and I believe them when they say that want to use the tight end more in their offense. If they get the right guy I think they will throw to the tight end a bunch."

JH: How is recruiting shaping up for you?

ZM: "It is definitely going to be a tough decision for me. I am not going to rank any of them right now, but I might do that after the UCLA (1-9) visit. Right now it would be real tough."

JH: Where does OU stand with the other schools you've visited?

ZM: "I definitely have more interest in OU than I had before. I would say that OU will be among my final decision."
