RECRUITING: Louisiana LB torn between OU, LSU

Louisiana linebacker Luke Sanders talks about his interest in Oklahoma.

SAN ANTONIO—West Monroe, Louisiana linebacker Luke Sanders talks about his top two schools, Oklahoma and the importance of tomorrow's Sugar Bowl on his yet to be decided commitment during an exclusive interview after Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game. When did Oklahoma enter the race for your services?

Sanders: "I just got in contact with them (Oklahoma) about a month ago. I've got a visit to go up there (Norman) on Jan. 16." Do you have any other visits scheduled?

Sanders: "Yes. I'm going to LSU on Jan. 23. I'm also going to Texas A&M and Arkansas. I've already visited Ole Miss." Do you have a top three?

Sanders: "Yeah, LSU and Oklahoma and…that's pretty much it." Do you have a leader?

Sanders: "It's probably LSU right now, because I've been there a couple of times. I've never been to Oklahoma, so I'm looking forward to going there and checking it out." What intrigues you about Oklahoma?

Sanders: "The defensive front. They run a lot of blitzes. The town (Norman) is supposed to be all about football and I know the players all work hard. When you watch the Oklahoma's games on television, it's pretty obvious they have great coaches. They're a traditional team that plays hard football. I like that." Have you talked to any players about Oklahoma since you've been here in San Antonio?

Sanders: "Oh yeah. I've been hanging out with Rhett Bomar and (Adrian) Peterson. They feel good about them (Oklahoma). With those two guys going there, I know it's a good school to go to." What will be the deciding factor in your decision?

Sanders: "The school that best fits me. That's why the visits are so important, because I'll get a feel for the schools from those." Who is going to win the Sugar Bowl?

Sanders: "I don't know, but I'll be there (in New Orleans tomorrow) to find out. The team that plays the hardest will win." Since Oklahoma and LSU are your top two schools, will tomorrow's game influence your commitment?

Sanders: "It might pull one team up, because seeing them (Oklahoma and LSU) will help me see how they play. That definitely might way in." What is the timetable for your commitment?

Sanders: "After my last visit. I'm not sure when that will be, but I'm planning on committing before signing day."
