Recruiting: Plano safety has no leader

Plano, Texas Safety Vickiel Vaughn talks about his visits, his season and his thoughts on OU

VICKIEL VAUGHN, FS, 6'0, 187, 4.4, PLANO WEST, TEXAS:

"We are 4-3 on the year. I have four interceptions and I have scored six touchdowns this season all as a wide receiver. I also return punts and kickoffs, but I don't get much of an opportunity. Most of the punters in our league can really kick the ball so I don't get an opportunity to return the ball, and on kickoffs they kick the ball out of bounds. In seven games I have returned three kicks and I still really haven't had much of an opportunity."

"I play pretty much as a last man in our secondary. Sometimes I lock on a third receiver, but most of the time I am covering the middle of the field. I am very confident in my coverage abilities and feel that I can handle anybody. I don't worry about being called the hardest hitter or anything, I just go out and do my job."

"I went to West Virginia three weeks ago and it was fun. I liked the coaches and the atmosphere there. I feel that I warmed up to the players and the coaches were fun. I am more interested in West Virginia now that I have visited them."

"I go to Michigan State on November 3rd. I have no other visits set up, but I expect to set a visit with Notre Dame. I don't know if I will visit Oklahoma officially, because they are so close. I know that I am going to visit them, but I don't know if I want to count it against my five since I can easily get there and get back. I still don't have a favorite school at this time."
