LARRY BIRDINE, DE, 6'5, 245, 4.65, LAWTON EISENHOWER, OK:
Before the season Birdine was rated as one of the top five players in Oklahoma, but many questioned if he really had the speed to play at a school like Oklahoma. This season Birdine has proven that he can run with anybody along the defensive line and at press time he has
14 sacks total.
"Larry just plays at a different football speed than everybody else," said Eisenhower Head Coach Bill Whiteley.
"We haven't had a football game in a long time around here where Larry wasn't the best player on the field. He has very good speed, is strong as an ox and really chases the football well. He should have been a national recruit, but that is OK with us, because he has been a great player for us and he will get to play football at a one of the best D1 programs in the country."
Birdine was thought to be a lock for OSU and was a key to the Cowboys recruiting class. However, this just shows the tremendous power OU has over OSU as the Sooners offer on Monday and by Thursday he has committed to he Sooners. More on Birdine later.
