Bo knows Norman?

NORMAN, Okla. — Now that Bo Pelini is officially out at Nebraska he will now officially interview with OU Head Coach Bob Stoops and Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables for the secondary job at OU.

Coach Stoops continues to say that he is not under any timetable, but it is obvious that he has been waiting to see what Pelini's availability is. Coach Stoops says he has two other candidates in mind, but he has not moved on any other candidate as he waits out Pelini.

Pelini is expected to be in Norman on Wednesday, and no later than Thursday. Coach Venables is expected to return to Norman on Wednesday after recruiting down in Texas.

If Pelini accepts the position at OU it is expected to be as the Co-Defensive Coordinator, but under the guidance of Venables. Venables will continue to call plays and more than likely will also be named Assistant Head Coach to Bob Stoops.

Coach Stoops and Pelini are good family friends and Coach Venables knows him very well too. This seems like a good fit if Pelini can work as an assistant under another coordinator. At this point, I don't think he has any offers that are better. And if Venables uses Pelini like Mike Stoops used Venables, Pelini may find that he will have a big role at OU.

Pelini made $200,000 dollars at Nebraska and it will be interesting to see if he can get that at OU, considering Venables already makes more than that at OU.

So, we are getting closer to finding out who the secondary coach will be, and right now the odds are with Pelini. If their meetings go well later this week, then Pelini will be the new coach on the Sooner staff.
