Sooner Spotlight: Lendy Holmes

Dallas wide receiver Holmes talks about his high school basketball season and and becoming a Sooner.

ENNIS, Texas—South Oak Cliff wide receiver Lendy Holmes talks about his high school basketball season, his expectations for next season and about becoming a father recently during an exclusive interview. What is the latest on your basketball season?

Holmes: "It's going really fine. We're 18-5 and I'm scoring in double-digits every game. Hopefully, we'll be able to make it back to the state tournament like last year." Is basketball your main focus right now?

Holmes: "Yeah, but football is on my mind everyday. I'm just putting that on hold for right now, because of basketball." What are your expectations as a true freshman?

Holmes: "I really want to get bigger and stronger. I definitely think I can play (as a freshman) and be a contributor if they need me. We'll just have to see (what happens)." Earlier this month, you became a father, when Lendy IV was born. How would you describe fatherhood so far?

Holmes: "It's going real good. It's a little more than I expected, but it's great." When do you plan to move to Norman?

Holmes: "I'll be there two weeks after graduation. That probably means early or mid-June." Just 12 days ago, you inked your letter of intent with Oklahoma. Are you still excited about being a Sooner?

Holmes: "Definitely, because I made a great choice. Oklahoma is good for me, because of the academics and I'm close enough for my family to still come see me. Everything's worked out."
