Jackson, Hill lead Sooner women into semi-finals

Sooners advance to Big 12 semi-finals with a 63-56 win over Colorado. Dionnah Jackson led the Sooners with 19.

DALLAS, Texas — Dionnah Jackson scored 19 points and Caton Hill added 17 as No. 19 Oklahoma knocked off 13th-ranked Colorado, 63-56, in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals Wednesday in Dallas.

Colorado cut Oklahoma's seven-point halftime lead to 58-56 with less than 30 seconds to play and then fouled Erin Higgins. Higgins missed both free throws, but Hill tracked down the rebound and then sank two free throws of her own to seal the win.

"I am very proud of what this team has done and what they have become," said OU coach Sherri Coale. "The rebound off the missed free throw at the end of the game was really indicative of how the game went, with a senior making a big play, and Caton Hill getting the rebound."

"I didn't think about saying, 'Don't worry about it' to her (Erin Higgins)," said Hill, who scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half. "I just went out and I knew I could outrun Bjorklund, and I knew I could get the rebound. They fouled me, and I was confident in my free throw ability."

With the win the Sooners advance to the semi-finals where they will face second-seeded Kansas State (24-4). The Wildcats, who advanced to the semi's with a 79-58 win over Missouri on Friday, beat the Sooners 74-65 on Jan. 31 in Manhattan.

Tip-off for Thursday's semi-final matchup is set for 8:30 p.m. at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
