RECRUITING: Top DT likes Texas schools early

One of the Texas' best DT prospects - Terrel Nemons - talks about his favorites and interest in OU.

Terrel Nemons is a fantastic talent that many feel is the best defensive tackle prospect in the state of Texas, which would make him one of the best defensive tackle prospects in the country.

Nemons is somewhat of a late bloomer as last year was his first year as a starter. However, he was so impressive in that first year that the entire country is taking notice. Nemons finished with 52 tackles, three sacks, four pass break-ups and five fumble recoveries.

"I think my year went pretty well," said Nemons. "I had a lot of good games and my teammates voted me the defensive player of the week three different times. I know that I am going to get a lot better in the future and feel my senior year will be a lot better than my season last year."

Nemons benches 360 pounds, squats 560 and he has a 23-inch vertical jump. He also powerlifts and posted a total weight of 1,300 pounds. Five schools have offered Terrel thus far and that is only the beginning.

"Kansas, Baylor, Boston College, Arizona and OU have sent a letter in the mail," said Nemons. "I think Texas A&M will offer pretty soon, because I just got back from their junior day and they said they were going to offer."

Thus far Nemons has his eye on a couple of Texas schools.

"I guess right now I like UT and Baylor as my favorites," said Nemons. "I like Oklahoma as well and they have a great program with a winning tradition. Really, I am pretty wide open right now because it is so early in the recruiting process. I can see myself still going pretty much anywhere."

Nemons has never attended a football camp and he hopes to attend the Texas and Baylor camps this summer. Nemons plans to attend several other junior days and says he will be at OU spring practice next month.
