RECRUITING: Mammoth OL likes five early

Tyler, Texas offensive lineman Ciron Black (6-5, 323) likes pancakes, but does he like the Sooners?

Ciron Black is a mountain of a man, and when a guy this big is as dominate as he is on the prep level, you know that college coaches are taking notice all over the country.

Black is a two-year letterman at that always-tough left tackle spot. He has played there pretty grading out at 83 percent last season.

"Everybody always watches the OL and it all starts with us," said Black. "If we basically don't get our jobs done then the whole team can't move the ball. I think more and more people are realizing how important our jobs are and how important we are to the football team. I think it is cool to play in the offensive line, because I like blowing my defender off the ball and watching my guys score touchdowns."

Black benches 340 pounds, squats 475 and he has a 20-inch vertical jump. When watching Ciron play, he is easy to spot as he is very athletic and usually put his opponent on his back.

"I am probably very equal right and like to do both," said Black, on if he prefers run blocking or pass blocking. "Run blocking is more fun, because I usually tower over people and get more pancakes that way."

Black has not attended any college camps the past couple of years, but this summer he plans to go the Texas camp. Black has three offers at this point from LSU, Baylor and Houston, but he has a number of schools expected to offer soon.

"Right now I am leaning towards LSU, Miami, Texas, Miami and OU as my top five," said Black. "At Oklahoma, I think Bob Stoops is a really, really good coach and the education down there is tremendous. At LSU, they won the National Championship and they are a real good school. I have always followed Texas and love the tradition down there, and of course you can get a good education there. Miami is a great school and they have a lot of players who come out of there and go to the NFL.

"I am not sure I will take all my visits or not, but I think that will all depend on what offers I get. If I get an offer that I feel very good about I think that I will commit early before the season and get it over with."
