RECRUITING: Top Texas LB will take a look at OU

Coveted Hallsville, Texas linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy talks about OU and his summer plans.

Roddrick Muckelroy, LB, 6'2, 213, 4.45, Hallsville, Texas:

Muckelroy is considered one of the elite players in Texas and one of the top three linebackers in the Lone Star State. Muckelroy enters his senior year as a four-year starter, but only started for two games his freshman year before breaking his collarbone.

"I have played middle linebacker my entire career and that included my freshman year," said Muckelroy. "You have to be tough to play inside and you really have to love the sport to play between the tackles."

Muckelroy finished with 121 tackles last season bettering his sophomore year of 108 tackles. Roddrick also starts in hoops and he runs the 100M (11.5) and 200M (23.5) in track.

Muckelroy has never attended a football camp, but he hopes to go camps at Texas, Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech. Muckelroy can bench 270 pounds and squats 370. He has been offered by five schools at this point, but expects more to be on the way soon.

"Right now I am looking at Texas, Texas A&M, LSU and Arkansas, and I want to take a look at Oklahoma," said Muckelroy. "All of those schools except Oklahoma have offered me, but they have told me they probably will. Arkansas also says they have sent the papers to me.

"I am keeping an open mind right and I hope to visit a number of these schools unofficially this summer so that I can narrow down my decision. I want to concentrate on my test scores this summer as well, because my GPA is fine."
