With their backs against the wall facing elimination the Oklahoma baseball team gave the ball to Mark Roberts, and he delivered.

The senior righthander from Owasso, Okla. gave up four hits and one run in eight innings as the second-seeded Sooners eliminated third-seeded Texas Tech with a 3-1 win at the Big 12 Baseball Tournament Thursday in Arlington.

The Sooners got on the board early with one run in the first and added runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 3-0 lead.

Tech got one run in the seventh and threatened with two runners on in the eighth, but Roberts pitched out of the jam and then gave way to Jarod McAuliff who pitched a perfect ninth.

Roberts, who improved to 9-4 with the win, tied the Big 12 Tournament mark and set a career-high with 12 strikeouts.

Oklahoma will play the Missouri-Baylor loser in another elimination game at 4 p.m. on Friday.
