RECRUITING: OU summer camp notes

I dropped by the first day of camp and OU and spent a great deal of time with the top free safety in the country Reggie Smith of Edmond Sante Fe and his father Reggie Sr. Both are very nice guys to deal with and both seemed to be enjoying the recruiting process.

Smith worked out in the first session, but the Sooner coaches told him he didn't have to time at night if he didn't want to and Reggie decided to sit it out. Reggie said he is going to the OSU one-day camp and later this summer he hoped to check out USC and UCLA. The Smith's have realitives in that area so it is a natural time to see both colleges.

It is easy to see that Reggie likes OU a lot and the Sooners are still very big favorites to sign him.

Outside of Smith, the most impressive athlete that I saw the first day of camp with offensive lineman Colin Tucker of Pierce High School in Richardson, Texas. Tucker looked fantastic and his father said that his son's decision is down to OU and Arkansas, but at this point OU has not decided whether to offer him or not. Tucker is a guard and that is the reason why he hasn't drawn an offer from the Sooners at this time. However, Coach Stoops has told Coach Kevin Wilson that he can sign five OLs, and that probably means the Sooners will take a couple of guards.

Another impressive athlete is tight end Trent Flounder of Des Moines, Iowa. OU has a great chance here, but Iowa will be tough to beat.

A sleeper to watch at the camp is WR/DB Jeremy Cole Robinson (6'3, 180, 4.5) of Realto, Calif. His father ran track at OU and he is a very talented football/baseball player who is trying hard to impress the Sooner coaches this week.

On Wednesday, it will be fun to watch Ada offensive lineman Craig Roark go to work. The OU coaches are looking forward to that as well.
