RECRUITING: Texas DT hearing good things about OU

Vince Oghobasse talks about his trips to LSU and Texas A&M, and what he's hearing about the Sooners.

Vince Oghobaase, DT, 6-5, 300, 5.2 Alief, Texas (Hastings HS):

JH: When are you going to make it up to Oklahoma?

VO: "I am trying to get out tonight to see both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State unofficially. We are checking flights for tonight, but realize we may not get out until tomorrow. My father (Vincent the first) is coming with me."

JH: Where have you been thus far unofficially?

VO: "I have seen LSU and Texas A&M. At LSU, I like the facilities and their academics are in order. The folks were real down the earth and they showed me a lot of attention. They were the second team to offer me and that impressed me that that would offer me so early. Texas A&M has been recruiting me the longest and they are recruiting me the hardest. Their facilities are second to none, especially with their new athletic complex. The defensive line coach (Stan Agen?) at Texas A&M writes me almost every day."

JH: What do you know about Oklahoma at this point and what do you hope to find out about the Sooners?

VO: "Alonzo Dotson came from my school has filled me on how good of a school that it is. He really likes it there and has told me that it is a nice place to live. He said that it took him a little while to get used to a smaller town and that Norman wasn't in the middle of nowhere. I knew that, but considering we come from Houston, you know that there is going to be a little adjustment moving to a smaller town.

"I am just going to check out the facilities and to find out what the coaches are thinking. I want to see how they work and what their defense is all about."

JH: Are you leaning anywhere in recruiting at this point?

VO: "To be straight honest with you I am wide open right now. I have been to only LSU and Texas A&M right now, and until I take a look at some of these other schools I really don't know what other schools are going to be good for me."

JH: Is it going to bother you at all to leave the state of Texas?

VO: "No, not at all."

JH: What are you looking for in a college?

VO: "I have talked about academics and facilities, but another thing would be the depth chart. I don't want to go to a school where they have nine or ten defensive lineman. I am not demanding that I play my freshman year, but when I am ready I want to have the opportunity to play. I also want to feel comfortable about the campus. I will know when I am walking on it if that campus is good for me. I want to feel comfortable and feel like it is where I want to live the next few years."
