HOOPS RECRUITING: OU moves up Rogers' list

Dallas, Texas power forward Kevin Rogers talks about his game and unofficial visit to Norman on Tuesday.

Kevin Rogers, F, 6'8, 220, DALLAS, TEXAS (SOUTH OAK CLIFF HS):

JH: You just watched LA beat Detroit in overtime, so what did you think?

KR: "It was wild. I think Luke Walton should play a lot more than he does. He makes some really good decisions and he is a very good passer."

JH: How would you describe your game?

KR: "Have you ever watched Derrick Coleman when he was younger. That is how a lot of people describe me. I averaged 13.5 points and 13.4 rebounds last year. I play on the wing and in the post both, it really all depends on what kind of players the other team has."

JH: What did you think of your visit to OU today?

KR: "I really liked Oklahoma. I liked the facilities, coaching staff and the academic support that they have. They have great tutors and their support system is tremendous. I like the basketball program and Coach (Kelvin) Sampson said I could come in and have an immediate impact. He said that they needed a face up forward that could really shoot the ball from the top of the key and shoot the three a little bit. I can do those things and more."

JH: Did your visit enhance the Sooners chances to sign you?

KR: "It really did. It really helped a lot. Before the visit I was considering OU, but not as high. Now, I am considering OU a lot and they will be one of my final choices."

JH: Where is OU in your recruiting right now?

KR: "OU is among my top eight with Kansas, Arizona, UConn, North Carolina, Texas, Illinois and Georgia Tech. I don't have a leader at this point and I really don't know who I am going to visit officially."

JH: I understand that you and C.J. Miles want to play at the same college, is that true?

KR: "Yes sir. And all the schools I mentioned say they want us both."
