RECRUITING: Sooners impress Texas DT during camp

Alief, Texas defensive tackle Vince Oghobaase gives a breakdown of his visit to Norman during last week's summer football camp.

Vince Oghobaase, DT, 6-5, 300, 5.2 ALIEF, TEXAS (HASTINGS HS):

JH: I know you made it up to OU earlier this week, so what did you do and what do you think?

VO: "It was real, real good. When we got there we went into the athletic complex and met Coach Shipp and it was fantastic. I like how everything is within the stadium and then I meet Coach Stoops. Then I was able to watch some film of the defensive tackles and they are outstanding. I can see myself playing among that group.

"Then I toured the weight room, cafeteria and the academic center where I talked with Mrs Turner, the academic counselor. I also had a chance to tour the dorms where the freshmen stay. Then Coach Shipp took us on a tour of the campus and I was surprised how small the campus is, which is a good thing. Everybody was so friendly around the program and on campus. Everytime we walked by somebody on campus they said hi. Everytime I was introduced to a player he came up and shook my hand and made me feel as if I am already apart of the family.

"I also met the strength coach (Jerry Schdmit) and we talked to him for a short amount of time. He knows what he is doing and he is going to make sure that I am going to become a better ball player. I also had a chance to talk to Alonzo Dotson, who is from my high school. It was great to see him and he is very happy at OU, and that is always a good sign as far as I am concerned."

JH: Did the visits give you a better outlook about OU?

VO: "Yeah, it gave me a chance to see more of what I will be dealing with at OU. I liked everything that I saw during the visit. I want to take a close look at all the campuses that I am interested in. I am sure at some point that I will get that chance, but now that I have seen OU there is no question that I have a great interest in them."

JH: I realize you don't want to narrow down your choices right now, but is it safe to say that OU is a serious player in your recruiting?

VO: "Yes, OU will be one of the schools that I seriously take a look at."

JH: Did you make it up to Stillwater as well to visit OSU?

VO: "Yes, I did and I really liked OSU as well. Both visits were great visits."
