RECRUITING: Long Beach WR will give Sooners a look

Long Beach, Calif. speedster DeSean Jackson says he'd like to visit Oklahoma. Is OU in his top 3?

DeSean Jackson is a blazer that has the college football world abuzz. Very few corners can match up with Jackson's speed and thus he always seems to have an advantage."

My speed is a great advantage for me, especially off the line of scrimmage," said Jackson "If I can get past a defender or even with him then I am going to pass him. Once I get past him then he is not going to catch up with me, and my quarterback can lay it out there for me and then it is six."

Jackson has been considered a starter at Poly, regarded by some as the best prep football program in the country, for the past three years. Last season Jackson hauled in 43 passes for 850 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also returned punts and averaged 12 yards per return.

Jackson has been to two USC camps, a speed camp and a skills camp. He also attended the Stanford camp. Unofficially, Jackson went to California and Pittsburgh (family in the area) this summer.

Jackson currently has 13 scholarship offers, and at this point he is still trying to workout his favorites.

"I have a top five, but it is not steady," said Jackson. "Right now I like Cal, USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh and Arizona. "At Oklahoma they have a great tradition and I like Bob Stoops as a head coach. They played for the championship this past year and they didn't win it, but they played very hard in the game and that impressed me. I think I will visit Oklahoma, and I am certainly considering that at this point.

"I would have to say my three favorite schools would have to be Cal, USC and LSU. All three of those schools have a great passing offenses and quarterbacks that can really throw the ball and that is important to me. I have always liked USC and Cal has a great offense. LSU has that championship and they play good ball."

Jackson has his GPA in order and he will find out about his test score soon.
