RECRUITING: LaMarque CB's verbal to A&M solid?

LaMarque, Texas CB and Texas A&M commitment Korey Mangum says he might still be interested in OU.

As far as pure cover corners go Korey Mangum is about as good at they get in the state of Texas. Mangum goes into his third year as a starter for power packed LaMarque as the cover corner that always takes on the other team's best receiver.

"I will play on both sides depending on where their best receiver lines up," said Mangum. "Then, if we play a real good running team I will play strong safety and concentrate on stopping the run."

Mangum finished last season with 76 tackles, six picks, two fumbles caused and two fumble recoveries. Mangum can bench 285 pounds, squats 445 and he has a 34-inch vertical jump.

Mangum is going to the Texas A&M mini-camp later this month, but he admits he spends most of this summer going through seven-on-seven drills with his teammates.

"I am talking to Texas A&M a lot," said Mangum, who has 13 offers. "Oklahoma is beginning to call me quite a bit. Oklahoma State also stays in contact. LSU and Nebraska are two other teams that I talked to quite a bit. I have given a commitment to Texas A&M, but I am still thinking about it. Whether I stick with that or not depends on their season and how they do. I am going to stay in contact with some other schools, especially if they want to stay in contact with me. I want to go somewhere where I can play at least by my sophomore year."

Mangum has his GPA, but he has yet to take the test.
