RECRUITING: Johnson says OU tops his list

Gilmer, Texas WR Manuel Johnson talks about his visit to Norman and when he'll make a decision.

Wide receiver Manuel Johnson (6'1, 170, 4.55) of Gilmer, Texas had a super visit to Norman on Monday.

Johnson and his family had the kind of visit they hoped they would have and they are now a huge lean to the Sooners.

OU loves Johnson and feel he is up there with Malcolm Kelly as the top receiver in Texas. They feel that he is the closest receiver to Mark Clayton in that he is spectacular after catching the ball.

Below is a Q&A with Johnson shortly after he returned from his visit from Norman.

JH: How was your visit to Oklahoma?

MJ: "I had a great time. My family and I were impressed by the program, the facilities and the academics at OU."

JH: Did the trip enhance your opinion of OU?

MJ: "Without question. You could say that Oklahoma shot to the top of my list. The situation seems almost perfect with several graduating seniors at wide receiver and the way Oklahoma throws the football."

JH: Did you get to meet some new people?

MJ: "Yes, I had a chance to meet quite a few players and they treated me like family. I was also able to hang around Jason White and Mark Clayton a bit. That was really great. Two of the best players in college football and they're treating me like I just one of the guys.

"I also had the opportunity to meet Rhett Bomar and Adrian Peterson, they were both great guys."

JH: Had you talked with either one before?

MJ: "I had gone up against Rhett in some 7 on 7 last summer, so I at least knew about him."

JH: Manuel, where does your recruiting stand at the moment?

MJ: "I hope to make an announcement in a couple of weeks."
