RECRUITING: Ga. OL waiting to hear from OU

Cartersville, Ga. offensive lineman Ian Smith update.

Ian Smith is just a tough, aggressive offensive lineman that has learned to take a defensive mentality to the offensive side of the ball. Smith will be a three-year starter at both guard and tackle.

"I have played left guard and both tackle positions," said Smith. "I am going to be right guard this year. I think I am being recruited more as a guard."

Smith finished last season with 25 pancake blocks and he graded out at 85 percent every game. Smith can bench 340 pounds, squats 440 and he has posted a 25-inch vertical jump. Smith is working hard in the weight room, and doesn't expect to make any trips for unofficial visits or to go to any camps this summer.

He has been offered by Florida, Florida State, Alabama and Louisville at this point.

"My favorite right now is Georgia," said Smith. "They might offer in the future, but I really don't know. I really haven't heard much from Oklahoma, so I don't know if they have an interest in me or not. I think they are a great program, but I don't know what they think of me. Out of the schools that have offered me, I guess you can say that I like either Florida State or Alabama."

Smith has qualified.
