Manuel Johnson, WR, 6-0, 170, 4.5, GILMER, TEXAS:
JH: Last night Rhett Bomar was named the MVP of the Texas All-Star and looked spectacular. How does it feel to be a part of the next recruiting class of receivers that could eventually be catching passes from Rhett Bomar?
MJ: "I really think it is going to be special that we have so many good young receivers like Malcolm Kelly, Eric Huggins and myself, that are going to be able to come in and catch passes from a quarterback like Rhett Bomar."
JH: What did you think of his performance last night?
MJ: "He has an incredible arm and he can throw any pass on target. What most people don't know is that he can run pretty well, plus he has good size at about 6-foot-3 or so."
JH: Was one of the reasons why you chose OU was because of their quality quarterback play?
MJ: "Yeah, that is one of the reasons, because they had Jason White already on campus. Then they signed Rhett Bomar last year, and I have heard a lot about Paul Thompson and the dude from California (Tommy Grady). You expect OU to have great quarterbacks, but to actually know a couple like White and Rhett is really something great."
JH: Now that you have been committed to OU for a while, what do you think about your commitment?
MJ: "I am very happy about it. Most people when they find out that OU is signing other wide receivers they worry about it for me, but I am happy about it. I think it is going to allow us to have a good team, and I think since we throw the ball about half the time it is going to make our offense very good in the future."
JH: What have people said to you about your commitment?
MJ: "My family is very excited about it. My coaches are sticking by me 100 percent. I think they are shocked that I am going to such a great D1 college, and they are very happy for me."
