RECRUITING: DT likes three after summer visits

Dallas, Texas defensive tackle DeMarcus Grangers talks about his three favorites. Did the Sooners make the cut?

DeMarcus Granger, DT, 6-3, 310, 5.25, DALLAS (KIMBALL HS), TEXAS:

JH: How has your summer gone?

DG: "Actually, my life has been revolving around the weight room. I have been working out and working out. I had a great summer in that area. I weigh 317 and I have grown about a half inch. I have been working on reps of 220 pounds at sets of 10, but before I left I power cleaned 330, benched 405 and for the squat I did 550."

JH: Where did you camp at this summer and what schools did you visit unofficially?

DG: "I went to the Oklahoma and LSU camps. I also went to camps at Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M. I went up to Nebraska and Kansas for unofficial visits."

JH: Do have a leader at this point in recruiting?

DG: "Three schools really impressed me this summer. At LSU, Nick Saban was there the whole three days working with the players. He worked with players no matter how good they were, whether they were prospects or not. The other two schools were Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

"I went to Oklahoma thinking that Norman was going to be a little town with nothing to do, and I found out that was wrong. I had a chance to watch Coach (Jackie) Shipp coach and I learned so much while I was there, even a lot about hand placement. At Oklahoma State, I didn't realize how many Dallas area kids they have on campus. When I went down there they were talking about things that I knew about because we were all from the same area. Even Coach (Les) Miles lived in my area for a while."

JH: Are you saying that you will choose from one of those three schools?

DG: "Those will probably end up being my top three schools that I chose from."

JH: What are you thoughts on the Sooner football program?

DG: "I like Oklahoma a lot. I get a note from Coach Shipp and Coach Wyatt every now and things and all things are good about Oklahoma."
