Alex Daniels, ATH, 6-3, 230, 4.5, COLUMBUS (BROOKHAVEN HS), OHIO:
JH: How has your summer been going?
AD: "My summer has been going well. Actually, I have been swimming a lot and trying to relax before the season starts. My workouts have gone well. I maxed out at 305 and I had a 39.8 vertical jump. I am still 6-3 and I weigh about 230 pounds."
JH: Have you gone to any camps this summer or to any schools unofficially?
AD: "I went to the Nike camp at Ohio State and I went to the Adidas camp at Notre Dame. I did pretty well at the Nike camp, but I don't think I was that strong at the Adidas camp."
JH: How many schools have offered you?
AD: "When you take letters that I have received in the mail I would say about 20."
JH: How is recruiting shaping up for you at the moment?
AD: "I have two main schools. I had five schools, but I have two schools that are showing me the most attention and I really like. My top two schools are Oklahoma and Ohio State. The other three schools are Florida, Florida State and USC."
JH: Talk about your top two schools. What do you like about both schools?
AD: "I really started to like Oklahoma when I met Coach Pelini. He was different than any other coach I have ever met. He talked to me about life, about education and about what college would be like at OU. He didn't just talk to me about football and I thought that was great. When the coach from Purdue and some other school came to talk to me they just talked football to me. Coach Pelini watched some film of mine and said he liked what he saw. I was very proud of that.
"At Ohio State, they have a great program and there is nothing to not like. They are the hometown school and they have a great program. Many people around here are trying to tell me what to do and to stay home, but this recruiting stuff isn't easy. I was told that it would get crazy, but I really didn't think it would be like this tough."
JH: Can you really leave the state of Ohio and a program like Ohio State and go to school at Oklahoma?
AD: "I am considering going anywhere out of Ohio. I am not saying that I won't pick Ohio State when it is all over, but I just think I need to see other places outside of Ohio. I am not sure that I shouldn't go to school outside of Ohio and just get out and experience life a little bit away from home.
"I will know a lot more about what I really feel when I visit Oklahoma. Oklahoma's interest level was a lot higher than many of the other schools. Oklahoma was the first school to offer me and they offered a week earlier than Ohio State. That kind of bugs me. I just don't understand why they waited to offer me when I live right here? I think Oklahoma might be a better school for me than Ohio State."
JH: Are you close to committing anytime soon?
AD: "I would like to get it over with, but I don't want to make the wrong decision. I just think I need to visit a couple of schools to make sure I am making the right decision. I think about this all the time, but I know I have to make those visits to make sure I know what I am doing?
