Will Hunter follow Malcolm Kelly to Norman?

Longview, Texas athlete Corderra Hunter talks about his game and interest in Oklahoma.

Corderra Hunter is one of the best pure athletes in Texas, and that is why college coaches from around the country are recruiting him both as a wide receiver and a cornerback.

"I feel pretty good about the fact that I am being recruiting on both sides of the ball," said Hunter. "I would like to go both ways in college. And even if my primary position is at cornerback, I would like to show what I can do on the offensive side of the ball."

Hunter is entering his second year as a starter and he played only at cornerback last season. Hunter will play cornerback again this season, but you can look for him some at wide receiver as well. Hunter can bench 240 pounds, squats 325 and he has a 26-inch vertical jump.

"I can't jump worth anything," said Hunter with a laugh. "I am fast and I can run with just about anybody, but I can't jump a lick."

Hunter didn't make any visits this summer and stayed home and worked out with his high school team. Hunter has been offered by a total of 15 schools at this point.

"I have been offered by a lot of schools. Tto be honestm I haven't counted them all up lately," said Hunter. "My top three are Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin. Stephen F. Austin is close to home and I grew up hearing about the Lumberjacks. I am going to go down to visit OU with Malcolm (Kelly) on our open week. I will learn a whole lot more about OU when I take that unofficial visit.

So what does he like about the Sooners?

"I like Oklahoma because they played in the National Championship game last year and Malcolm tells me that they are going to make it again. They are a great team, and I want to play on a great team."

Hunter says the fact that Kelly has already committed to OU will not have any influence on his decision. Practice is already underway at Longview and Hunter and Kelly match-up on almost every play.

"Yes, we do, " said Hunter. "If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. And Malcom is the best."
