Alton Dixon, CB, 6-0, 190, 4.48, LUFKIN, TEXAS:
JH: Are you glad summer is over?
AD: "I am ready to play football. I haven't played since November (shoulder injury), and I am ready to play again."
JH: Did you go through two-a-days?
AD: "We are out of tw- a-days now. We started school last week. As first, the two-a-days we were worried about the heat, but we got used to it. My tackling was rusty at the first of practice, but I got better in our first scrimmage. I made six tackles in our first scrimmage, and I did that after moving to safety. I was supposed to play corner this year, but things have happened and now I am playing safety."
JH: Do you want to play safety?
AD: "No, not really. To give our team the best chance to win football games it was best I moved to safety. I know how to make the calls and how to get all the players line up, so they moved me to safety when our starting safety moved. When he moved, I knew that I was going to move to safety. And even though I didn't want to, I just went with the flow."
JH: Do you still feel that you will play corner in college?
AD: "Oh yes, most definitely."
JH: How is recruiting going?
AD: "It is the same ole, same ole. I am looking at the all the colleges that offered me and what is best for me. I am looking for a defense that plays a lot of man-to-man, because that is what I like to play."
JH: What school are you still interested in at this point?
AD: "I like Oklahoma, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M."
JH: Do you have a leader at this point?
AD: "That would probably be Oklahoma. Oklahoma has had so many All-American's the last five or six years. They play a aggressive defense and the coaches are real cool up there. They started recruiting me before my junior year and they have always shown a great interest in me. I trust Coach (Bob) Stoops and what he tells me. He says OU wants me very badly."
JH: Are you close to committing to anybody?
AD: "No, I am not really close. I will probably take my five visits. I am probably going to wait until after the season to take most of my visits. I may take one visit during the season, but take the rest after my season is over."
