RECRUITING: Coveted Texas DE has a leader

Lufkin, Texas defensive end McKinner Dixon update.

McKinner Dixon, DE, 6-3, 245, 4.85, LUFKIN, TEXAS:

JH: Is your season underway yet?

MD: "We have had a scrimmage, but our season has not started yet. We play our first game September 3rd. We scrimmaged against Longview and we have another scrimmage coming up Saturday against Humble. Our scrimmage with Longview was good. They beat us because everybody on our team got some playing time. Malcolm Kelly and I are real good friends, and he is a very talented player and person."

JH: How did you play against Longview?

MD: "I did pretty well, but basically it comes down to how the whole team did. I did pretty well though."

JH: How good is Lufkin going to be this year?

MD: "I believe we will surprise some people. Right now most people feel that we will just be OK, but I think we will be better than that. We have the heart and the talent to play, and we have to make ourselves believe."

JH: Do you have a leader right now?

MD: "Right now I am sticking with Texas at the top of my top five, but I really don't know where I am going. I will probably make a decision in the middle of the season. I really want to concentrate on my senior season and then worry about recruiting. I am playing for Lufkin right now and then I want to think about recruiting."

JH: What other schools are you considering?

MD: "I am also considering Texas Tech, Kansas State, Oklahoma and LSU. All of those schools have offered me."

JH: What do you think about Oklahoma?

MD: "I would love to go to Oklahoma. I am trying to find out the depth of the program right now. During the season I want to analyize the defensive ends and try to find out why and how they are so successful. Oklahoma is real high on my list too."

JH: Will you visit Oklahoma?

MS: "Yes, I will visit Oklahoma."
