Jeffrey Owens, DT, 6-2, 275, 4.9, PLANTATION, FLORIDA:
JH: How did your summer go?br>
JO: "I worked out every day and ran every day. I was on a strict diet and it worked out pretty well. I ate healthy food, or at least better than I did last year, and I think it really helped me in the running game. I got up to 435 on the bench and 585 on the squat."
JH: When do you play your first game?
JO: "We play our first preseason game Thursday. We play the state champs tomorrow. We are ready to play, or at least I hope so. I think we are going to have a good team this year. I know we have been practicing very hard. I think we are going to gone into the game and beat them."
JH: Did you visit many schools this summer?
JO: "No, not really. I just went to the N.C. State camp and that was it."
JH: Do you have a leader in recruiting at the moment?
JO: "Not quite, but I think I have a top five. My top five is Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma, LSU and N.C. State."
JH: You are considering two Florida schools. Would it be hard for you to leave the state of Florida?
JO: "It will be tough to leave the state, but if I like one of those three schools better I could do it. I really don't a favorite right now, but I am looking forward the game between Miami and Florida State. I will be at that game."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
JO: "I really like Oklahoma. They may be my favorite team outside of Florida. They have a great program and a good winning tradition. And I really like Bob Stoops. I love how Oklahoma plays defense, because it is so fast. That is the same way we play defense at Plantation. We play fast just like Oklahoma. I think I could easily fit into their program."
