RECRUITING: Miami TE commit looking around

Houston, Texas tight end Martellus Bennett update.

Martellus Bennett, TE, 6-6, 240, 4.7, HOUSTON (TAYLOR HS), TEXAS:

JH: You have been busy this summer haven't you?

MB: "I think my summer went great. I established myself as a shooter this summer. I played with the Houston Swoosh and won everything in Texas. We beat The Hoops a couple of times and won the big tournament at Texas A&M."

JH: Are you still planning to play both football and basketball in college?

MB: "Yes, I am going to play both sports in college."

JH: How is your season going?

MB: "We are 2-0. I have 14 pancakes and five catches for 57 yards and two touchdowns (11, 10). This just the beginning for me. I am going to have a great season. I scored both my touchdowns on fade routes and I had to put a little Randy Moss move on them."

JH: Have you become more of a major factor in the offense this year?

MB: "They are looking for me, but we have a good quarterback and a good running back as well. Our running back has seven touchdowns, and in our first game he rushed for 201 yards and five touchdowns."

JH: Are you still committed to Miami or are you beginning to look around some?

MB: "I am probably going to take a visit to some other school next weekend. I am not sure where I am going to go, but I will go to some school that wants me to come up there. I know a lot of schools are talking to me about visiting, so I shouldn't have any problem finding a school that wants to host me for a weekend."

JH: Will it be an official visit or unofficial?

MB: "No, I want it to be an official visit."

JH: What schools are you considering for this visit?

MB: "I might go to Arizona because they are the only school that has talked to me. I am also going to call Coach Shipp from Oklahoma later tonight."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this time?

MB: "I like Oklahoma a lot. I watched their game the other day and all I can say is that they picked the wrong music to play the highlights after the game."

JH: Are you still committed to Miami?

MB: "Yeah, but I want to compare the other schools to Miami. That was what my unofficial visit to Miami was for. The only other place that I have been to is Texas A&M. I am going to compare the school system, travel, education and what they have to offer in their football program. I just have to get out and start checking things out."
