JESSE WHITE, OC, 6'2 ½, 295, 4.79, DENVER MULLEN, COLORADO:
Jesse White is a tremendous center prospect with an interesting background. Considered one of the strongest men in the country, White can bench press 465 pounds, squats 650 and he has a 32-inch vertical jump.
"May dad (Leon White - a former Colorado player and current WWF wrestler know as Vader) has helped me a lot," said White. "We have a $300,000 dollar, 1200 square feet gym in the backyard. I have lifted there my whole life and he has been there with me since I was a kid. He has coached me and taught me how to lift weights, because he can bench 640. He went to Colorado where he was an All-American and was drafted by the Rams, and played with the Rams in the Super Bowl against the Steelers. He went into professional wresting and has been great ever since. He still wrestles over in Japan. He has always taught me about the little things and we have always had good technique. It's the little stuff that makes you good like hand placement and foot placement."
White started at Fairview his freshman season before moving to Chatfield as a sophomore and then to Mullen last year. White is a true center that can play guard, but he is being recruited as a center. This season White is also playing defensive tackle as well. White has been offered 15 to 20 scholarships thus far with Oklahoma, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, Notre Dame and Colorado showing the most interest. White had previously committed to UCLA, but now says he's back on the open market.
"I am withdrawing my commitment to UCLA," said White. "When I committed to UCLA I thought they had a degree in business management, but they don't. I don't think they have done anything wrong or that I have done anything wrong. I need to go to a school that has what I am looking for in academics, but those schools are showing the most interest in me."
The Sooners have been showing White a lot of interest as of late and they may have a home court advantage.
"My great grandfather (Dan, 6'6, 360) lived in Oklahoma. He had 14 kids and they all went and had about six kids. So, I still have a lot of family in Oklahoma and I have a lot of pressure from my family to go to Oklahoma. I think Oklahoma is the best program in the nation and a great school. I would be honored to play for them. I would be honored to go there and I would seriously consider OU if they have a good interest in me. Until I find out exactly what they are thinking, I am going to continue the recruiting process."
White is in the process of setting up visits to OU, Notre Dame, Oregon, Washington and Nebraska. One interesting note: Great Grandpa was named Dan Allan White, grandpa Artie Allan White then dad is Leon Allan White and Jesse is Jesse Allan White.
