RECRUITING: Clay liked what he saw in Norman

Jeffersonville, Georgia linebacker Antonio Clay update.

Antonio Clay, DE, 6-1, 207, 4.6, JEFFERSONVILLE (TWIGGS COUNTY HS), GEORGIA:

JH: How was your visit to OU this weekend?

AC: "It was great. It was everything that I was expecting. The coaches were great and the players were great, and the atmosphere at the game was tremendous."

JH: You already liked OU a great deal going into your visit. Now that you have visited what did you learn about OU that maybe you didn't know before?

AC: "There is a lot of tradition there and they work hard in the weight room. They work on lateral movement as well as strength. Jerry Schmidt is the strength and conditioning coach and he has been at some of the top schools in the country in Florida and now Oklahoma. He is one of the best in the game and he gets great success at OU. The pictures on every wall with Barry Switzer, Bud Wilkinson and now Bob Stoops. I had a chance to tour the Barry Switzer Center and it was out of this world. I can't find anything bad to say about OU."

JH: Have you set up your visit to Miami yet?

AC: "No, not officially, but I am trying to set something up soon. Right now the weather is too bad to travel, but once we get that behind us then I will set up my visit to Miami."

JH: Did the visit enhance the Sooners chances to sign OU?

AC: "Oh yeah, it changes my impression about OU. Before I visited I wasn't really comfortable with OU, but I knew that I liked OU. Now that I have seen and experienced OU first-hand, I now know what OU is all about and just how great a school and a program that it really is. It will make me feel comfortable about making my decision as to where I am going to school."

JH: How does recruiting shape up for you now that you have visited OU?

AC: "Oklahoma is definitely the place to be as far as I am concerned. I am going to give it a couple of weeks and see if I still feel that way. Oklahoma has a slight lead right now because I have been there already. I still have to visit Miami and then see how it goes."

JH: You had a chance to watch the Sooner defense. What were your impressions?

AC: "They come off the ball and everybody gets to the ball. They play a smashmouth defense, and that is what I want to play in college."

JH: How is your season going?

AC: "We are 4-1. We lost to Hawkinsville 21-7. That is the only blemish to our record, but they were the No. 1 team in the state and we made a ton of mistakes in that game. I feel we will correct those and be a contender for the state championships.

JH: Will you just take the one other visit to Miami?

AC: "I will probably sneak in another visit, but I don't know where that would be. The most I will take is four, but I am not going to take five. Heck, I think I will probably only take three. My third visit could be Maryland."
