HOOPS RECRUITING: Johnson talks about visit

Amarillo, Texas shooting guard Austin Johnson update.

Austin Johnson, G, 6'1 1/2, AMARILLO (PALO DURO HS), TEXAS:

JH: How did you enjoy your visit to Norman this past weekend?

AJ: "I liked my visit to OU a lot. I had a lot of fun at the football game and spending time with the team. Having fun was one of the things that I was looking for, and I certainly had a great time."

JH: What did you think of the basketball facilities at OU?

AJ: "I liked OU's facilities, and I know they just built their new practice facilities. They told me that they have some of the best basketball facilities in the country and I believe them. It is amazing when you look at their locker room and the other facilities that they have."

JH: Was OU your first visit?

AJ: "Yes, it was my first visit. I haven't set any other visits at this time. USC wants me to come out there and Texas A&M wants me to visit. I don't think I am going to visit Texas Tech."

JH: Where does Oklahoma rank in your recruiting at the moment?

AJ: "Oklahoma is at the top of my list for me and I have real good thoughts about them. I was also down at OU on an unofficial visit and I really like it there."

JH: When do you hope to make your decision?

AJ: "Probably by the end of this month. And if not, maybe then by the end of next month.

JH: How would you say your recruiting stacks up?

AJ: "I guess you can say it is OU then USC and Texas A&M."

JH: Has your team started practicing yet and what kind of year are you coming off of?

AJ: "We started camp the first day of school. I am looking forward to another good season. Last year I averaged 27.9 points per game, eight rebounds and seven assists.

JH: Are you a point guard or a shooting guard?

AJ: "I am a shooting and a point guard. I play mostly the shooting guard spot, but I can switch over and handle the point. I do that sometimes and feel I will be able to do that in college."

JH: How would you describe your game?

AJ: "I would have to say that I can do a lot of things offensively. I like to shot the jump shot, but I like to drive as well. I guess I am considered a shooter, but I love to put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop. I usually bring the ball up the court and I get open after I pass the ball. I can get to the hole when I need to and many times I do that."
