Caufield-Dales combo leads OU past Illinois

Sooners improve to 10-0 with 91-69 win over Illinois

It was the LaNeishea Caufield and Stacey Dales show once again in Norman as the third-ranked Sooners routed Illinois 91-69 Sunday afternoon.

Caufield reached double figures in scoring for the sixth consecutive game scoring 28 points and Dales added 21 as the Sooners improved to 10-0, tying the best start in school history.

The Sooners took charge early and jumped to a 52-31 halftime edge and never looked back.

"I'm really, really proud of our performance today. I though the first half we were exceptional, in almost every phase of the game," said OU Head Coach Sherri Coale.

"I thought they shot the ball very well and we go into halftime with a huge lead because our defense was able to create a lot of turnovers. We were able to get the game up and down in transition and we knew going in that we needed to run that it needed to be a 94-foot game."

"Oklahoma played very well. They were extremely well-coached and very unselfish on the court," said Illinois Head Coach Theresa Grentz. "It was a fun atmosphere to play in. I just wish we could have played better today."

Rosalind Ross tossed in 18 points and Caton Hill added 13.

Next up for the Sooners is a battle with top-ranked Connecticut next Saturday in Storrs.
