RECRUITING: Giant Texas OL makes his decision

The latest on Plano, Texas offensive lineman Justin Blalock's decision

JH: You had indicated for the longest time that you wanted to take all your visits and then decide in late January, so what changed your mind?

"I hadn't planned to commit, but on my visit my visit at Texas I found out just how good the Texas program was. I found out just how much of a family Texas was and how close the players and coaches really were. It was a unique feeling to have the opportunity to be involved in a program that has so many things going for it.

JH: Texas signed eight offensive linemen last year and seem to have a number of young offensive linemen on campus, yet you committed to them anyway. You must not be scared of competition at all?

"I want to compete against the best and that is that. I think I am good enough to play and really that is that. I know they signed a bunch of offensive linemen from last year, but that doesn't concern me. They graduate two to three starters in the offensive line over the next couple of years, so there will be some things opening up for me. I just feel I can play so I don't worry about who is already on campus. I will do just fine."
JH: Who finished second?

"That is really a toss up, but I would say Michigan because of its education and then Oklahoma. It was really hard to say no to any of them."
