RECRUITING: Flordia DT sees early PT

Plantation, Fla. defensive tackle Jeffrey Owens update.

Jeffrey Owens, DT, 6-2, 270, 4.9, PLANTATION, FLORIDA:

JH: How is your season going?

JO: "We are off to a great start at 3-0. We won our first game 55-6, then are second we came out flat and still won 41-10. This past week we played our best team yet, but won 45-7. In those three games I have 18 tackles for losses and eight sacks."

JH: Are you getting double-teamed all the time?

JO: "They are sometimes triple-teaming me now, but I always say the more I train the slower they seem. They are not getting to me. I am having a pretty good season so far, and I think it is only going to get better."

JH: Are you just playing defensive tackle?

JO: "I am playing both defensive tackle and defensive end."

JH: Have you taken any visits yet?

JO: "I haven't set up any visits yet, but I plan to start taking my visits after football season."

JH: What schools do you hope to visit and do you have a favorite?

JO: "So far I am still interested in Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia and N.C. State. I don't have a leader. They are all equal right now."

JH: What are you thoughts on Oklahoma?

JO: "I really like Oklahoma a lot and they are playing some pretty good football right now. I also heard that one of their defensive tackles got kicked off the team and another is not doing well. I find that interesting, because that may help me get some playing time early, which is what I am looking for."

JH: What are you going to be looking for in the recruiting process?

JO: "I don't know what I am looking for yet. I am just looking for the basics in that I want a program where I can get a good education and I want to play for a defense where the defensive tackles attack."
