RECRUITING: Visit impresses Kentucky OL

Murray, Ky. offensive tackle Cory Zirbel talks about his trip to Norman for the Texas Tech game. Did the Sooners make up ground on the Wolverines?

Cory Zirbel, OT, 6-7, 292, 5.3, MURRAY, KENUCKY:

JH: What did you think of your visit to Oklahoma?

CZ: "I loved it. I was more impressed than I thought I was going to be. It was a great experience for me."

JH: What was it about the visit that was so great for you?

CZ: "The whole experience from the gameday atmosphere to how I was treated by the players. I got to eat with the seniors the night before and got to eat breakfast with the team. I rode the team bus over the stadium and sat on the sidelines during the warm-ups. I had a chance to see all the fans that were trying to get into the game. That was incredible."

JH: How did you feel the offensive line played in the game?

CZ: "It was unbelievable how well their offensive line played. They play so hard. And even when they missed an assignment mentally, they play so hard that they can cover it up a lot of times. Then to watch Adrian Peterson and see all the things that he can do — that was incredible."

JH: Now that you have visited OU how would you say your recruiting stacks up?

CZ: "I would say that Michigan and Oklahoma are definitely the two that I am trying to decide between. After taking that official there that helped Oklahoma a lot. I am not sure I could name a leader at this time because I haven't been to an official at Michigan."

JH: Was Michigan truly your leader before your visit to Oklahoma?

CZ: "Before this visit I would say that Michigan had a lead. I went up to Michigan for an unofficial and I was impressed, but that was until I took my official to Oklahoma."

JH: Is your decision going to be a tough one to make?

CZ: "As of now I think my decision would be very tough. Like I said, I haven't been on my official visit yet to Michigan and that visit could put them on top or it could put Oklahoma over the top. I will just have to wait and see how that visit goes."

JH: What did you learn about Oklahoma that you didn't know before

CZ: "I learned how great the people are and how great the players are. With all the success they have had they are not cocky and Coach Stoops impressed me more than anybody. He spent a lot of time with me and that impressed me a great deal. He had a big game to play yet he sat with me and he drove me over to the hotel. And then picked me up at the hotel and took me over to breakfast."

JH: When will you take your official visit to Michigan?

CZ: "Probably in the middle of December."
