RECRUITING: Vaughn cuts list to two schools

Did the Sooners make the cut for this outstanding safety prospect from Plano, Texas?

JH: What post-season honors have you received?

"I was named District Defensive MVP and I made first team All-State at free safety. I leave on Sunday to play in an All-American game in San Antonio. The game is on January 5th and will be shown on ESPN2."

JH: How is recruiting going?

"It is going great, but it has settled down some. That is actually a good thing. Teams are at bowl games. The media is dealing with Christmas time and it's the dead period in recruiting. This gives me more time to spend with my family."

JH: Are you close to making a decision?

"I have narrowed my decision down to Arkansas and Oklahoma. I don't take my official visit to Arkansas on January 25th. That is the date I picked because of my basketball schedule and that is when my family could go as well."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

"I enjoyed Oklahoma greatly. I enjoyed the players and definitely enjoyed the coaches, and that is why I say they are one of my top players. OU talked to me about playing strong safety, but I feel I can play either spot. I feel I can cover people pretty well and if people want to say I am a physical player that is fine with me. I just go out and play the game and do what I have to do to be successful."

JH: What is it about Arkansas that you like?

"At Oklahoma at I liked the coaches and I felt that would be a place that I could call home even if I didn't play football. That is exactly what I see in Arkansas as well. I feel I could live there even if I didn't play football. It's just a feeling that I have about them and when I visit them I will find out more about them."
