Syd'Quan Thompson, ATH, 5-10, 180, 4.45, SACRAMENTO (GRAND UNION HS), CA:
JH: How is your season going?
SQT: "It is going great right now. We are 5-1 on the season, but we did lose one of our league games to one of the better teams in our league. However, we are going to make the playoffs, where I think we can really make something happen. We have a strong team every year and I think we can go far in the playoffs."
JH: What position are you playing and how are you doing at this point?
SQT: "I am playing running back, receiver, cornerback and safety. I am also the return man on both punts and kickoffs, so I don't leave the field very often. I think I have rushed for 800 plus yards and 13 touchdowns. I have only caught a few passes because I play more running back than receiver. I am not sure what my tackles are on defense, but I have one interception. On returns, the kickers aren't kicking to my side and they would rather kick it out of bounds than have me return a kick. The same thing happens on defense. They never throw to my side."
JH: What position are most colleges recruiting you for?
SQT: "Most teams are recruiting me as a cornerback and a return man, or a receiver type and a return man."
JH: What position do you really want to play in college?
SQT: "I definitely want to be a return man, but whether I play on offense or defense doesn't really matter to me. I just want to play at a position that is going to be benefit me the best in college."
JH: What schools are you interested in?
SQT: "The schools I like the most are Oklahoma, UCLA, California, USC and Kansas State."
JH: Do you have a leader at this point?
SQT: "I really don't like to spit it out there like that because I want to keep my options open."
JH: Have you set any visits at this time?
SQT: "I go to Oklahoma this weekend, and that will probably be my only visit during the season. I will be taking the rest after the season."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
SQT: "I like Oklahoma a lot. I have been watching them on television and I like how they play defense. They really chase the ball and taking to their coaches I can tell they really know what they are doing. Right now I just really want to focus on this visit and see how much I like the area and the campus. I want to get to know the coaches and the players real to see if I can fit in with them."
JH: Do you hope your visit to Oklahoma goes really well?
SQT: "Most definitely. I hope that I like my visit to Oklahoma a lot. Right now it seems like a real good school to go to. They are sending a lot of players to the draft and they are playing a great brand of football. They play on television a lot and they get a lot of exposure. I hope that I can be the kind of player that they want that can come in and help them win a National Championship."
