Derrick Williams, WR, 6-0, 193, 4.4, GREENBELT, MARYLAND:
JH: How is your season going?
DW: "We are doing great. We are on a six-game win streak and our record is 7-2. We are ranked 15th in the state, but we started out with the season with a bunch of injuries and early in the season we were missing a bunch of key guys. Now everybody is back and we are doing great right now."
JH: How are you playing?
DW: "I am playing good. I have had an ankle injury that I have been trying to fight through. Everything is getting back to normal. I have nine rushing touchdowns, 10 passing touchdown, five receiving touchdowns and two punt returns. I am playing quarterback, but I move around a whole lot. I also play slot-back and wide receiver."
JH: Do you enjoy playing so many positions?
DW: "I enjoy playing so many positions because defenses can't key in on me. Now that we have all of our people if defenses key on me then somebody else is going to breaks things open."
JH: What is the latest in recruiting with you?
DW: "I am going Penn State on Sunday."
JH: As you get ready to go to Penn State, what are you thoughts on the Nittany Lions?
DW: "Right they are up there with all the schools right now. They have been having a rough year, but I want to go to a program that wants me as much as I want them. Penn State was the first school that offered me a scholarship and I want to see what they are about. Right now, I have been on only one visit and that was to Florida. I want to start comparing schools."
JH: How does the firing of Ron Zook affect your thoughts on Florida?
DW: "It affects it a lot. I was interested in Florida because of Coach Zook. However, Florida is a great program with some great guys on the team. I will just have to wait and see what happens."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
DW: "I know that I am going to visit Oklahoma. With AD doing all of those things on the field, that shows that they will play true freshmen. That impresses me, and they will have a great team returning. You know with all of these schools they are all telling me that I can come in and start as a freshman, so I just want to find a school where I am going to feel the most comfortable at."
JH: OU has a great freshman tailback in Adrian Peterson and a great core of young players. How much of a factor is the supporting cast at each school going to play in your decision?
DW: "I look at supporting cast and my dad and my coach look at that a lot. If you have a supporting cast then that frees you up to do your thing as well. A quality supporting cast is important is us as well."
JH: What schools are you still considering?
DW: "I am still considering Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma and Penn State. I know I can take only five visits, but I am going to try to see one of the schools unofficially. I am not sure which one that will be at this time."
