RECRUITING: Five-star DE set to see OU-Nebraska

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. defensive end Averell Spicer update.

Averell Spicer, DE, 6-2, 265, 4.96, RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA:

JH: Are you guys done with the regular season yet?

AS: "It is going OK. We are 4-4 right now, but we had only two games that have gone over 20 points. All of our games are 20-15, 21-14 or something real close. So, we are playing pretty good defense."

JH: How are you doing individually?

AS: "My season is going pretty well. I think I have 57 solo tackles and five sacks this season."

JH: Are you just playing defensive end?

AS: "I am playing both defensive end and some defensive tackle. I don't like playing inside, but we are playing a bunch of passing teams and we have three pretty good defensive ends so I end up playing inside when we are going with the three defensive ends."

JH: Have you just taken the one visit thus far?

AS: "I have been to Nebraska so far, and I have rescheduled my Oklahoma visit for next weekend."

JH: How did your visit to Nebraska go?

AS: "I had a fun and it was nice. Nebraska is still strong on my list."

JH: As you get ready to visit OU what are your thoughts on the Sooners?

AS: "I don't know a whole bunch about them. All I know is that they have a strong football program and this will be my first chance to learn a bunch about them."

JH: Did you just get interested in OU through recruiting or have you always liked the Sooners?

AS: "I have always had an interest in them, but I never knew a lot about them. Through recruiting I have learned a little more about OU, and it is enough to make me really interested in them. I am looking forward to seeing the campus and looking at the program close up."

JH: Has the order of your other visits changed any?

AS: "I am going to USC (1-10), Florida State (11-19) and to Oregon State (end of January)."

JH: Do you have a favorite at this time?

AS: "I don't have a favorite at this time."
